about us > headteacher’s welcome
It gives me great pleasure as Headteacher of Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School to welcome you to our website.
Our school is a very special place, founded nearly 500 years ago. My mission, our mission, is to inspire young people and help them to excel as citizens.
That’s why we offer a curriculum, which is ambitious and well-rounded. We expect pupils to work hard and be resilient. This leads to excellent public examination results – we are one of the leading state schools nationally.
But it is also about preparing pupils so that they can flourish in an inter-connected and fast-changing world. To that end, we are a warm community, which celebrates difference.
We encourage pupils to volunteer and to be leaders. We offer an exciting range of opportunities including outstanding provision in sport, music and drama, so that every pupil can pursue their interests and stretch themselves as they learn new skills and talents. We aim to support all Veseyans to be kind, thoughtful and confident.
Yes, our school is a very special place – judged outstanding by OFSTED in 2014 and 2024. Most importantly, it is a warm, encouraging family, where we want everyone to thrive.
